Featured Item - The Story Behind Squirrel's Nest Jewelry
I began designing and creating jewelry because I always had a hard time finding pieces that I liked wearing myself. In fact, I never really liked wearing jewelry at all! I found it uncomfortable and irritating, and would want to take it off halfway through the day. In addition, I had a tough time finding the simple, clean designs that I could see so clearly in my mind, but never on store shelves. I really appreciate an understated and uncluttered aesthetic, and have high standards of comfort--I don't like when I can feel my jewelry, and wanted to wear it more like a soft, broken-in tee shirt rather than an itchy wool sweater. As my customer base began to grow, I was surprised to find out how many others out there had the same hang-ups with jewelry. It's been so rewarding to bring little pieces of joy into people's lives, one pair of tiny open hoops or ear climbers at a time!
